My name is Steven M Arkon AC1 USN Retired. I first joined The U.S. Navy in 1963 and was sent to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center just as winter was rolling around. I quit school in the ninth grade because as a rebellious teenager, I knew much more than the adults around me. (Mainly my maternal mother) I was born in Safford Arizona raised by my grandmother and grandfather until 1962 when my grandfather passed from this earth as did my grandmother in 1958. I or rather should I say We (my older brother and I) had limited contact with my maternal mother to just a few days once every 2 tears or so. So needless to say when Joseph Kohn passed away She came running to feast on the things that my grandfather had expressed to my brother and me that we would inherit. Joe had always said to his friends and family that when he passed away the boys (Mike and Danny) would be taken care of. But when my mother got there no one could find Joe’s will. So as of that day, I was a rebellious and contentious teenager. I could not wait to get away from her.
